Paul Ryan Elliott conceived Loft & Bear in 2010 in a loft in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t until 2014 that things really got up and running. He started his distillery with the goal to create a high quality vodka from terroir-driven ingredients. Elliott comes from a long line of Black entrepreneurs going back to Tulsa’s Black Wall Street. With less than 1% of all distilleries being Black-owned, Elliott built his distillery in South Central LA — a community with deep roots in the Black community. Today, Loft & Bear creates jobs in the community and educates on vodka production — all while winning numerous accolades and awards for its unique quality.
