This is Rioja ridiculousness. Or rather, it’s full of lovable things: smoothness, elegance, texture. Classic notes of ripe currants, graphite and dried earth amplify this medium-bodied red that closes out with plump tannins. A wine that prefers the company of pizza, tacos and all that good grub.

Telmo Rodríguez is a well-known name in the world of Spanish wine and for over 30 years he has chartered new paths for what wine means in various wine-growing regions throughout the country, drawing upon ancestral knowledge of the land. Creating different estate wines in these different regions might seem like a huge undertaking, but Telmo, and his partner Pablo Eguzkiza, have learned that one thing that unites the approach is using endless combinations of different varieties to adapt to the diversity of the land and climate. La Social is made from grapes sourced from trusted growers in order to create a authentic expression of Rioja.
