A different kind of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that’s less tropical and grassy as you might expect. Pure citrus aromas continue into the palate (think: orange rind, pink grapefruit, pomelo). Simply refreshing, and dare we say, energizing.

Settlement, located in New Zealand’s Marlborough region, sources distinguished parcels of fruit from some of the area’s top organic vineyards. Steve Planthaber is the owner and winemaker, hails from Australia’s Barossa Valley, before he found his way to New Zealand and discovered his love for wine. He works hands-on in the winemaking process and is known by those around him for his love of vintage cars.

Planted in 2009, this hillside site is located 4km up the Omaka Valley on a desirable north facing slope. Given the undulating terrain, the vineyard’s topography is made up of a layer of shallow topsoil from tight packed wind-blown loess, over clay loams. The steep slopes allow a focus on capturing sunshine, with early irrigation in the season required given the vines are still maturing. As the season progresses, the irrigation is scaled down to increase concentration. Settlement Vineyard began conversion to organics in 2013 with great success, and full certification was achieved in 2016.
