A truly approachable wine from another era, this Italian gem is a blend of Piedmontese star players (Freisa, Dolcetto, Barbera). Leathery aromas rise up on the nose alongside hints of forest floor and cocoa. Once it’s opened up, the palate explodes with flavors of strawberry, dusty cherry, cranberry and dried citrus peel. Copious but perfectly integrated tannins keep this wine standing up sip after sip.
In 2005, the Bonnie family, owners of renowned wine estates in France, decided to expand their horizons and head to Argentina. Along with partners, they acquired land in the Uco Valley just south of the city of Mendoza. And so Bodega DiamAndes was born. The winery’s architecture blends harmoniously with the Andean natural scenery and winemaking, which began in 2007, takes advantage of these pure conditions.
