Sometimes a wine comes along and puts itself in its own lane. The Kumusha Cabernet Sauvignon just drives like that. Smooth-bodied with a noticeable smoky side (hey, hello) this Southern African wine gets its name from the Shona word for “your roots” and it expresses those to the fullest. Bramby fruit, autumn leaves, and sour cherry mingle on a palate that finishes with an herbal finish. Buckle up.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tinashe Nyumudoka moved to South Africa for better economic prospects. He landed in Cape Town and embarked on a career in hospitality that led him to become a sommelier. After gaining recognition for his work in some of Africa’s top restaurants, he decided to have his own hand in winemaking and in 2017, Kumusha Wines was born. His portfolio of wines speaks to the unique terroir of South Africa, and he participates in non-profit work, as well, sitting as an executive board member of Black Cellar Club (BLACC) and TeamZim.
