This fresh and zesty wine from Lugana in Italy’s north is ready to go with flavors of ripe white peach, fennel frond, and lemon. Elegant and balanced on the palate, you’ll also find hints of candied fruit, almond kernel and nettles. Pour a glass to go with veggie risotto or seafood pasta dishes, and even your next takeout sushi order.

Cà dei Frati was first referenced in 1782 as “a house with a cellar located in Lugana in the Sermion district known as the place of the Friars.” In 1939, Domenico dal Cero, son of a wine grower, moved to this very house and began growing wine. After 30 years, his son Pietro took part in the creation of the Lugana DOC in 1969. In this sense, the family has had an influential part in the formation and recognition of this viticultural area under Italian appellation law. Pietro died in 2012 and today, Cà dei Frati continues to be run by his wife and children, with the same vision and legacy.
