Talk about off-the-beaten-path. The Guidobono Segretevigne Extra Brut is a traditional method sparking white wine made from (red) Nebbiolo grapes. With that, your interest should be piqued. Florals and fresh strawberry on the nose give way to a palate that’s bone dry, appley and citrusy. Pair with traditional noshes like cured bresaola or fragrant dishes like lemongrass-scented curry.
The Guidobono winery was purchased by the Faccenda family in 2003, with a dream to produce Barolo. Today they make classic Piedmontese wines that show a pure expression of all that the Langhe can do. Grapes come from vineyards just outside Monforte d’Alba and are 30-40 years old. Their wines are known for outperforming expectations every vintage.
